Propagate is a multi-tool connecting data analysts and data owners: the analyst can request access to a data package through a web app, while data owners can manage, check, and execute the data requests through a command-line interface (CLI).

✨ Key features

Data requester

  • Request data via a web app.
  • Send the data request to the data owner in a reproducible and structured format.

Data owner

  • Receive reproducible and query-ready instructions for creating a subset from your data package.
  • Test the compatibility of the data request query against your metadata.
  • Generate a subset, i.e. as Parquet files for tabular data, based on a received request.

Propagate focuses on data accessibility by hosting an online request system and a CLI for the data owner to execute and manage the request. For creating the data packages with metadata, see, our Python package Sprout. For making human-readable documentation of the data package, see Flower.

About the Seedcase Project

Propagate is part of the Seedcase Project, which helps research projects manage and process data in line with the FAIR principles.
